What's offered at Elmwood High School

Art classes are structured in such a way to allow students the oppotunities to fully understand the realm of visual arts. Students examin works of art from history and modern art, while practicing a wide variety of studio techniques and mediums.

 

Art I

This course is designed to provide all students with an understanding and appriciation for the visual arts.  Art History and Art Criticism will be explored with a hug does of studio projects and activities.

 

Art II

This course is for the intermediate art student who wishes to further explore the visual arts.  Students will begin to work on art that explores their personal style and further experimentation with mediums.

 

Art III

This course is for the advanced student who is interested in advancing their personal style.  The students will create a body of work that expresses their personal style and interests.  Students will work with a number of mediums from drawing to sculpture.

 

Senior Studio

This class is for seniors who have taken all Art I, II, and III. and are serious about their creative future.  Students are given opporunities to create from their favorite art mediums and create a portolio of the interests and techniques studied.

 

Ceramics 

This class will explore the use of clay in the creation of works of art, both functional and decorative.  Students will examine the ways in which clay has been used throughout history along with the technical aspects of the ceramic process.

 

Digital Photography 

This class will offer students the opportunity to study and practice digital photography techniques. Each student will take, and alter their digital images using Adobe Photoshop computer program and working with many photography apps.
